Urban Installations

Marie-Lou Desmeules’ urban installations extend her practice into public space, bringing image, video, and staged presence into direct encounter with the city.Developed for streets, façades, and site-specific contexts, these works explore how projected images can interrupt everyday experience and temporarily transform the spaces they inhabit.

Façade

Façade is an interactive urban video installation created by Marie-Lou Desmeules with the collective Slacheurs, in partnership with HUB Studio. Installed in Montréal, the work used motion sensors to activate video projections as pedestrians passed by, bringing Desmeules’ images into direct contact with the street. The project explored the gap between aspiration and limitation, turning the urban façade into a temporary screen for projection, desire, and public encounter.
