QUEER YOU ARE
2021 — Commissioned living sculpture project for television
Marie-Lou Desmeules’ living sculpture work was commissioned for Maricón perdido, the Spanish television series created and written by Bob Pop and internationally released as Queer You Are. For the series, Desmeules developed I Am Everyone Anyone No One, a group of living sculptures transforming human subjects into unstable figures drawn from celebrity culture, history, politics, and contemporary archetypes. Placed within a screen context, the project extends her long-standing investigation into transformation, portraiture, and constructed identity. Recognition becomes unstable: the face remains visible, while the person is absorbed into an image, a role, or a projection. The series premiered on TNT Spain in 2021 and was later distributed internationally through HBO Max / WarnerMediaplatforms.
