Illuminated Icons – Glowing Light Portraits

The Light Portraits extend Marie-Lou Desmeules’ practice of transformation into a dialogue between image, object, and atmosphere.

Each work is both a portrait and a sculptural presence. The figure emerges through color, surface, and illumination, shifting between staged identity, apparition, and spectacle.

Seen in daylight, the work holds the intensity of a photographic image. Once lit, it becomes an object of presence, altering the space around it while remaining anchored in the figure.

Each Light Portrait is handcrafted, encased in wood, fitted with integrated lighting, and ready to hang. Works are available in different formats.
