Albano Desmeules Samson
Studio 9, Istanbul, Turkey, 2011
On December 1st, Studio 9 Istanbul opened as a new art space in Nişantaşı, Istanbul. The gallery's aim is to provide a new perspective on art with exhibitions of different concepts. The first exhibition showcased two world-famous and extraordinary artists, Canadian photographer-sculptor Marie-Lou Desmeules and Italian sculptor Francesco Albano, who explored the effects of social pressures on the human body. Desmeules transformed live models' identities by using painting techniques and playing with photo frames. Albano, who participated in the 54th Venice Biennale, presented his sculptural works alongside Desmeules in the exhibition.
